Afghanistan:The London Conference on 28th January 2010

We are delighted to understand that once again the London Conference on Afghanistan is being held to address the issues of security and governance in Afghanistan. Upon the provision of this opportunity, we, the National Stance Party of Afghanistan wish to highlight the point noted below.
The result of Colonial policies, the Durand line, is immoral, unjust and unethical.

There is only one solution which will guarantee security and governance in Afghanistan and that is the abolishment of the Durand Line.  As W. K Fraser Tytler stated in his article titled Afghanistan: A study of Political Development in Central Asia (London; Oxford University Press, 1950), behind this artificial border Afghanistan is ethnographically, economically and geographically incomplete. There is not a bigger injustice than that of dispersing, fragmenting and separating a family unit. This is what the Durand Line has achieved.

As can be seen from the western history, it is impossible to achieve security and governance whilst there is no justice. Hence, we urge you to address the issue of Durand Line in the Conference and scientifically naturalise the borders and allow Afghans (Pashtun families) to reunite.

It is sincerely hoped that this conference paths the way to the instigation and implementation of the above said. I wish you all the best and hope that we have the courage to tell the truth and stand for the truth.

Yours faithfully,

Habibullah Janebdar
