The question is why terrorism prevailed, along the Durand Line (Brother Line between Afghanistan and Pakistan). Since the birth of Pakistan, Pakistan and its intelligent service cultivated political Islam as a tool to beat Pashtoon Nationalism and the Idea of Pashtoons to join Afghanistan. During the Cold War, British and U.S. stand firmly along the side of Pakistan to protect Pakistan. Therefore, Afghanistan did not get a chance to come together with India to get rid of Pakistan which led it to become the “backbone of terrorism”. If in 1979 the Soviet Union did not attack Afghanistan there would have been a possibility that the Afghan government and India would uproot Pakistan as a country. Pakistan has turned into a base the west (NATO) and U.S. and Afghan Mujahedeen to fight against the Soviet Union. Pakistan convinced the U.S. and NATO that only political Islam (Islam as a political ideology not as religion) is able to defeat the Soviet Union with the communist ideology. This was the birthday of today’s international terrorism. Pakistan started to beat the traditional Pashtoon nationalism and cultivated political Islam (the main Idea of Al-Qaeda) among Pashtoon people in Pakistan and Afghanistan and combined them with Arabs to cerate Al-Qaeda and Taliban which eventually lead to 9/11 disaster. The support involves money, military supplies and strategic planning guidance, said the officials, who requested anonymity. Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff said “the ISI had links with militants on both Pakistan’s borders with Afghanistan and India”. Two senior figures in the U.S. military have spoken about the links they believe exist between elements in Pakistan’s Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Taliban and al-Qaeda militants. U.S. officials told the Times that proof of the ties came from electronic surveillance and trusted informants. Pakistani officials told the paper they had firsthand knowledge of the ties, which they denied were strengthening the insurgency. Aiding and abetting of terrorist organization is a real threat to the U.S., Europe, Afghanistan and India and the world as well. The solution is to divide Pakistan to eliminate terrorism. Pakistan should is separate to at least three stated, Punjab, Baluchistan Sind and NWFP turn to Afghanistan. I do believe that dividing Pakistan is equal to dismantling the world’s most dangerous terror state. I do believe that the only solution is to dived Pakistan; Punjab and Sind be independent or in a confederation with India and Pashtun and Baluchistan be confederated with Afghanistan
Pakistan is a region created by the British in 1947 just after the end of WWII. The area was formed by taking one third of India and 45% of Afghanistan. During the Cold War, Pakistan was used by the British and U.S. as a ground for confrontation with Soviet Union. Since two big states of Pakistan (Baluchistan and the North-West Frontier Province) is part of Afghanistan soil, it has been called the “backbone of terrorism”.
The New York Times reported “The Taliban’s military campaign in southern Afghanistan is aided partly by support from operatives in Pakistan’s military intelligence agency”. On the other hand, the U.S. military says it has elements within Pakistan’s military intelligence, the ISI which continue to provide support for the Taliban. The New York times, citing U.S. government officials, said the support for the Taliban and other militant groups was coordinated by operatives in the S Wing of Pakistan’s Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI.
President Obama has announced a new strategy for the “increasingly perilous” situation in Afghanistan. He said an extra 4,000 U.S. personnel would train and bolster the Afghan army and police, and he would provide support for civilian development.
Violence in Afghanistan is at its highest level since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion, and the United Nations warned earlier this month it was likely to worsen this year.
President Obama has ordered 17,000 additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan. They will join 38,000 American troops and 30,000 more from NATO allies and other nations. Pakistani leaders deny any government ties to militant groups and the Times quoted U.S. officials as saying it was unlikely top government officials were coordinating the efforts. The middle-ranking intelligence operatives sometimes cultivate relationships without the approval of senior officials, the paper said.
Yes, Pakistan is epicenter of world terrorism. Terrorism stared in Pakistan and as nature goes, it has to finish in Pakistan. Recent developments in Pakistan are proof of that. We know this terrorism is affecting India in particular & whole of the world general. However, there are proofs that certain Pakistan ISI and agencies are helping these terrorists in their build up, equipments & training but time will come they will bear their impact too. Some countries helped Pakistan on financial and arms front but now they understand what blunders they have committed. These terrorists for their misdeeds will one day destroy Pakistan who helps these terrorists.
