KABUL, Afghanistan (Mar. 23) – More than 600 children of northeast Kabul suburbs now have a new school built by ISAF troops.
ISAF’s Regional Command Capital French troops celebrated the completion of the school in a ceremony today attended by the first council of French Embassy, the French Senior Representative and the French Battle Group commander.
The 86,000 Euro-building is located in PD17 and was funded by the French Ministry of Defence and the French Embassy.
The school consists of eight classrooms, three administrative offices, sanitary facilities and a well.
“With the school just built, all of the children will be able to study,” said the district head. “I hope all the kids in our country will have similar schools and not have to walk great distances in summer and winter.”
The French Battle Group is deployed in the North of Kabul and is active, in coordination with all Afghan authorities, in the economic, social and cultural development of the area.
