“Pakistan is yet again hit with a natural calamity. The recent rains and following floods have severely affected life in various parts of the country. This is a national tragedy that requires each one of us to respond with support”.
These views were expressed by Deputy Commissioner Zhob Hamid Al-Karim who was chief guest at the distribution ceremony, which was held here in Zhob.
Distribution made by National Trust for Population Welfare NATPOW in collaboration with Turkish NGO in the area, included food items and other things of need. Assistant Commissioner Sheikh Asmatullah Mandokhail and District Coordinator Painda Gul Mandokhail were also present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner further said that the recent flood was worst ever in our history as it causes devastating damage to human beings and property and the devastating flood had broken all previous records. The government made all out efforts to help the flood affectees in critical juncture. He added.
He distributed relief items among flood-affectees and also appreciated the relief efforts of the National Trust for Population Welfare NATPOW.
President NATPOW Qazi Tahir Naeem told media men “Pakistan confronted with a worst ever flood in the history of the world. National Trust for Population Welfare NATPOW keeps on providing humanitarian services to the most vulnerable in line with the fundamental principles of humanity without any discrimination on the basis of nationality, race, religion, class, color, creed, gender and political views. We are sure that this humble effort will help those who need it most. So far hundreds of families have been provided food items and more distribution will be carried in the affected areas”.
Meanwhile, President Sustainable Community Development Organization SHAD Shah Nawaz Yousafzai also distributed relief items in Shaighala Teh Qamar Din, a for-flung area of the district. Describing the floods and torrential rains he said that the floods had affected almost the entire country as a national tragedy of even greater magnitude than the earthquake 5 years back. People of Zhob mostly depend upon livestock and agriculture, but the flood water swept their cattle and agricultural land, causing losses in millions. He added.
