Maidan Shar:- fifty Three different types of light weapons will be handed over to officials of the disarmament of illegal armed Groups (DIAG) in the central of Maidan Wardak Tomorrow on Tuesday.
At a ceremony to be held at the governor’s office at 10:30 AM, the weapons collected from seven illegal armed Groups (DIAG) in Maidan Shar district would be surrender to DIAG representatives.
Senior officials including Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi, acting head of the joint Secretariat (JS) Aziz Ahmadzai, Wardak Police Chief, Provincial Council Members and representatives from ANBP, UN agencies, Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) and ISAF will attend the ceremony.
The United Nations Assistant Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said on Monday: By negotiating and accepting to surrender their weapons, the commanders are supporting (DIAG) a government – led programmer, intending to eradicate the in influence of illegal armed groups in the country, thus allowing the consolidation of peace, rule of law and prosperity in Afghanistan.
In a statement the UNAMA said thanks to efforts by the governor of Maidan Wardak Abdul Jabbar Naeemi and the authorities, a number of commanders had demonstrated compliance with the process, paving the way for Wardak to be one of the provinces in conformity with the requirements of DIAG.
The establishment of a safe and secure environment in complaint districts will allow communities to become attractive for potential development and governance projects and lead to a renewed prosperity in Wardak, the press release said.
