Heavy rain in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa is going on, due to which many areas are facing flood. Hoti Mardan is surrounded by Kalpani and the main drain of Mardan goes through Hoti before entering the clean water in Kalpani. Because of the poor construction of the main drain in Hoti, the people of the area suffer when it rains. For many years the people and the local Nazim demanded the Government to take a strict notice of this main problem in Hoti Mardan. But so far nothing has happened and the main drain still runs the same way as it was 100 years ago. This drain has caused serious injuries and many lives were lost in 2005.Most of the houses have been destroyed by the flood. Many bridges were damaged in 2005 and some of these are still not constructed by the concerned authorities. This time the drain has caused flood again. The people voted for the candidates to provide best community services but the representatives let them down. In Hoti Mardan people voted for the Awami National Party candidate Ahmad Khan Bahadar and Khwaja Muhammad Khan. These two promised the people of the area in public gathering to resolve their problems. Khwaja Muhammad Khan was a federal minister for Social Welfare but he resigned due to his personal conflict with Awami National Party. Ahmad Khan Bahadar is on a family holiday in Europe.
Hoti Mardan is the home town of Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan and he takes a pride in being from Hoti. But the residents of Hoti are deprived of the basic living facilities.The Chief Minister has announced different developmental project for Mardan but the roads in Hoti Mardan are very much primitive. Hoti is a historical place in Mardan and it can not be ignored. The people of Mardan voted for District Nazim Himayat Ullah Mayar as a District Nazim. He is from Mayar area and did work for his own area Mayar but not much for the rest of Mardan. In 2005 when the flood hit Hoti, the then District Nazim made promises with the people in the restoration of their destroyed houses, schools and bridges. These were not fulfilled.
While Political Parties are trying to score over the issues and flood in Mardan, in reality the relief efforts were made by the people themselves.
The people of Hoti Mardan request the Provincial and Federal Governments to take immediate action over the construction of the appropriate drainage System in Mardan. Otherwise face the flood every year. And with this the outcry of the people.
