New system tracks Afghanistan reconstruction, development projects
KABUL, Afghanistan (Feb. 10) – Reconstruction and development projects in Afghanistan are now managed in one database.
Information is gathered on all reconstruction and development projects in the country by Afghanistan Country Stability Picture (ACSP), a database developed and managed by ISAF soldiers at headquarters ISAF.
“We hope the system will increase the management of information systems capacity within the Government of Afghanistan,” said a civil military cooperation expert at HQ ISAF.
With more than $12 billion invested in country-wide reconstruction and development since 2002, ACSP has an estimated 70,000 activity records provided from more than 170 sources. The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development is the largest contributor to ACSP and the military has provided more than 8,500 projects for the system.
This program has a common picture for these projects and helps eliminate duplication of efforts. Previously, more than one school was built in the same area.
“Now, we can conduct our projects in the right places to get the right development in the most needed areas,” said Ahdib Fahardi, Afghanistan National Development Strategy executive director.
